Luminis and VanDijk: 15 years of building educational services together

Apeldoorn, June 17, 2025 – Luminis has been a partner of VanDijk for 15 years. VanDijk, known in Belgium under the banner of Studieshop.be, has been an educational service provider in the Netherlands for more than 85 years. Since 2010, Luminis has contributed to the development of a solid and flexible IT architecture for VanDijk.

Every year, VanDijk delivers more than 8 million textbooks and over 2.5 million digital licenses to secondary schools. As a strategic IT partner, Luminis is co-responsible for the development and growth of the Mijn VanDijk landscape (for schools) and Luminis provides support in major changes in VanDijk’s IT landscape with cloud technology.

Solid and flexible architecture

Thanks to a scalable and flexible architecture – co-designed and realized by Luminis – VanDijk is able to efficiently process over 600.000 orders annually in a short time and deliver them to students and educational institutions on time. For example, through the B2B webshop developed by Luminis, where schoolbooks are quickly and easily ordered online.

There is a lot of variation among all the schools and the choice of teaching materials. Because of this, a standard webshop was not an option to meet all needs. The webshop, including the personal login environment, is completely tailored to the diversity of teaching materials, schools, and suppliers.

Innovative Cloud Technology

To deliver new textbooks and teaching materials to students and teachers on time every year, efficient processes and modern tools are needed. With the introduction of the latest cloud technologies, among others, VanDijk can respond quickly to changes in supply and demand, guarantee constant quality (even in peak periods) and also control costs to the maximum extent possible. Luminis used the latest Cloud and front-end technologies in the new ecosystem. This keeps VanDijk’s systems up-to-date and reliable.
