Luminis DevCon: IT-trends and the latest technologies

Denise Neurink - 24 February 2017

The 3rd major, annual IT conference: Luminis DevCon, organized by the software and technology company Luminis, is to be held on Thursday 6th April 2017. The venue is the CineMec cinema rooms in Ede. This year’s event will focus on trends and the latest software development technologies. Multiple technical sessions will be presented by renowned international and national speakers who will also share their experience and knowledge through a series of parallel sessions and workshops.

Following the previous years’ successful, sell-out events, Luminis’ 3rd annual DevCon is scheduled for 6th April 2017, where 500 participants are expected. This year, a number of collaborative case studies will be presented, including from: the Dutch tax authority, Bol.com, ANWB and Binck Bank. Tickets are available at devcon.luminis.eu.

“The speed of innovation and technical developments in our profession is unprecedented. IT specialists have an ongoing challenge to stay up-to-date and a conference such as the Luminis DevCon is an deal opportunity to do so. DevCon isn’t just about ‘broadcasting’; the emphasis is to bring professionals together to share their knowledge and experience with each other; the programme has been specifically designed to support this objective. DevCon is a conference made by developers for developers”, co-organizer of Luminis’ DevCon and Java Champion Bert Ertman.

The art of software engineering

Whereas the conference has no single topic, “the art of software engineering” is a central theme; this resonates with Luminis’ paramount internal value of craftsmanship. The conference comprises sixty minute, sessions in which the speakers will explore a variety of specific topics in-depth, including: front-end development, serverless architectures, microservices, modularity, home automation, machine learning, security and continuous delivery.

Knowledge and Sharing

There’s an old African saying that ‘Knowledge is the only treasure that increases with sharing’. One of Luminis ambitions is to grow its ‘treasure’ through sharing. We organize regular (pro bono) knowledge exchange sessions, training courses and provide guest speakers to universities and colleges. Luminis is a regular contributor at international conferences including J-Fall, JavaOne, JavaZone, Jfokus and Devoxx.
Luminis DevCon was first held in 2015 as an annual contribution to the developer community.
