VanDijk, known in Belgium under the banner of Studieshop.be, has been supplying study materials and services to secondary education for 85 years, making it the largest educational service provider in the Netherlands. For 15 years, Luminis teams have been working on VanDijk’s IT environments. We continuously collaborate in the field of technological innovations.
Over the years, Luminis has supported VanDijk with major changes in their IT architecture. In recent years, our team has worked on the learning materials tool, introducing Cloud-native development and modernizing the platforms that VanDijk uses.
Every year, VanDijk supplies study books and school materials to students and teachers. In order to deliver on time for every new school year, efficient processes and tools are needed. By modernizing their digital environments, VanDijk wants to ensure a user-friendly customer journey for schools, teachers and students.
One online environment for important matters
Technologies continue to develop, and this can cause applications to become outdated. To ensure that VanDijk’s systems remain up-to-date, modern Cloud and front-end technologies have been introduced and has made it increasingly easy for schools to order the necessary resources.
Luminis has worked on renewing the ‘Mijn VanDijk’ environment. In this environment, schools can consult a catalogue to orient themselves, select learning resources and order the right materials. These applications provide the book lists for schools, and that is the basis for the entire landscape when it comes to ordering, invoicing & reporting. Schools can also manage the users in their own environment, share messages in a newsfeed and view reports. This means there’s only one online environment needed for all important matters.

Technology made for the future
Luminis and VanDijk are building a future-proof environment with secure applications. This allows VanDijk to better support schools, coordinators, teachers and students in managing and ordering study materials.
In total, more than a 1000 schools currently work with these VanDijk applications. The renewed environments have been made more secure and user-friendly by introducing SSO and user management. The use of Cloud technology also helps to reduce costs and can easily be scaled up with new applications. The new environment also uses new branding across all applications. This ensures that the new ‘My VanDijk’ environment can provide users with everything they need.
